Enjoy A Winter Cabin Rental Weekend for $300.00

Sunday, February 14, 2010 by Roxanne Turner
This years Indiana winter weather has been intense.  We have dealt with days full of snow, sleet, ice, freezing fog and single digit temps!  It's hard to take it easy when you are dealing with old man winter being so contrary.  Yet there has been tremendous beauty in the nature of winter this year with the glistening ice shimmering off tree branches, or in seeing beautiful snow caps lay on evergreen limbs.  There is a cute parade of front yard snowmen in our neighborhood carefully made by the delight of children and family. It's a delight to awake to the hush in the air of new fallen snow and watch a neighbors dog try to romp through the snow drifts. Most of us can't stop to really enjoy the fun of winter during the work week but come the weekend it can be a fun family adventure.

Our Vacation Rentals Indiana Getaway is located in Epworth Forest in North Webster, IN.
It is a great place for a winter family reprieve  This Indiana Vacation rental offers a lakefront view of Lake Webster, offering activities of ice-fishing, sledding, ice-skating and making snowmen. There's nothing like taking a walk across the frozen lake and marking your initials or name in the ice or snow, followed up by the warmth inside to two toasty fireplaces (one on each level) along with a hot cup of coca.  It's not unusual to spot a deer family right outside the cabin doors. Now until the end of March we are offering a Indiana Winter Getaway Special. For only $300.00 you can enjoy winter at it's best from Friday until Sunday.

Make reservations today to treat you and your family to some Indiana Winter fun!

Ice Fishing Is Also-Known-As Hard Water Fishing

Tuesday, February 2, 2010 by Wesley Duke Sapp
We were at the lake this weekend and there were several groups out Hard Water Fishing.  This is the first year I've ever heard of this term but it seems to be equally as popular as ice-fishing (BTW I know they're the same thing.)

If you like ice fishing then we have a Winter Cabin Rental where you can stay.  I don't know if Lake Webster Fishing is as good in the winter as it is at other times of the year but I know there are people doing it!  We saw snowmobiles, orv's, ice-fishing shacks and personal portable heater boxes in several places around Epworth Forest and other Lakefront Cabin Rentals.  They were out on the ice all day Saturday and all day Sunday.

Our Take It Easy Lake Cabin Indiana is available now for hard-water fishermen, ice-fishermen or winter outdoor activities of any sort.

Make Your Valentine Happy With A Indiana Log Cabin Getaway.

Friday, January 29, 2010 by Roxanne Turner
Stuck in a rut about what to do this Valentine's Day? Don't want to do the same song and dance of candy and flowers? Then why not book a Winter Cabin rental and enjoy a Indiana weekend getaway at our northern Vacation Rentals Indiana log cabin.

There's nothing like a cozy romantic log cabin where you can enjoy alone time with the company of your sweetheart.  We have two crackling fireplaces in our two story log cabin that has great panoramic views of Lake Webster.  It's completely furnished (except for personal linen) so all you have to do is pack a light bag and you're on your way.

What better way of saying "I love you" then treating yourself and lover to a log cabin retreat. Unlike gifts of flowers, which die and candy, which is eaten, a creative gift of a rental cabin weekend is one gift that will leave behind lasting memories to be cherished for years.

Haiti...

<

Attached is a montage I did as a follow up in regards to my most recent blog about Haiti.
Wesley and I have been blogging a lot lately about Haiti as we continue to look for of ways to help.

Wesley's parents, are the original founders of our winter cabin rental in North Webster, IN  Years ago they once served as missionaries in Haiti.  This tragedy has been so difficult to make human sense out of but I know one thing for sure and that is the people of Haiti are teaching us many lessons!  Prior to the earthquake many of us were lost in what we call our down turned economy.  We focused on our lack.  Perhaps one doesn't understand the true meaning of lack until you witness what we have been shown through the media about the earthquake and following Haiti days occurrences and their fight to just survive.  This tragedy was broadened our sensitivity to compassion and is enlightening the world to the resiliency of the human spirit.

Please continue to pray and give what you can to Haiti.  Also, don't forget that 25% of any Vacation Home Indiana Rental taken in February will go towards Haiti.

Rent a Log Cabin and help contribute towards Haiti

Thursday, January 21, 2010 by Roxanne Turner

The recent news of the Haiti disaster has really touched my heart and Wesley's.  The tragedy of what has occurred has caused so much destruction, death and suffering.  I like millions of others have felt helpless at times as to how I can help. I look out our Vacation Home Indiana Winter Cabin Rental that views Lake Webster and feel the tranquility and peace, yet I know miles and miles away there is suffering beyond belief.  Humans without shelter, water and food.  I cheer for my beloved Indiana Colt's team and yet my heart cannot forget that others are suffering and something more needs to be done.

My Nephew by marriage, Joel Perkins, has his pilots license. Flying has been his passion for years.  They reside in Atlanta, GA and he was asked to fly one of Ted Turner's planes to deliver supplies and water to the citizens of Haiti. Ted Turner has donated 1 Million Dollars towards Haiti relief.  Joel was asked to perform this duty on the day he was celebrating two of his children's birthdays.  He accepted and flew out that day.

This assignment has changed his life forever but he also wanted to do his part to contribute.  He was so touched by what he saw especially when it came to the children.   He flies back and forth each day from Florida to Haiti.  He felt the calling to do more so he almost bought out the entire Wal Mart in Florida with medical supply needs, toys, and candy to bring to Haiti   He is spending his own money to do this.  Today, Haiti not only received the supplies that Ted Turner has sponsored but so much more including 1,200 blow pops and toys for the children.  These innocent children and orphaned children must be so lost and confused in all the chaos the earthquake has caused.  My Niece, Michelle is now receiving all sorts of donations from family, friends and even a few strangers.

In addition to this, Joel was able to meet a family from California trying to adopt and save a 7 year old orphan from Haiti.  He was able to transport them out of there and fly them to Florida.

So besides our personal Haiti donations we will donate 25% of any cabin rental that occurs in February towards "Haiti Smiles"

Now you can enjoy a great winter cabin rental with lakefront views and help make a difference in Haiti.

We hope everyone will continue to hold Haiti in their prayers.

Spring is Just Around The Corner (But Come To Take It Easy Cabin Anyway!)

Monday, January 18, 2010 by Wesley Duke Sapp
It's been winter lately, did you notice?  People frequently tell me how cold it's been or how they wish it would be warmer, well, guess what...it's Indiana in January!  It's supposed to be cold.

But, come visit the cabin anyway,  there's a furnace to keep you toasty, 2 fireplaces to make you cozy, a log cabin atmosphere for nostalgia and plenty of activities to keep you occupied.  Lake Webster Fishing is good on hardwater just like it is in the summer.  Fishing Lakes Indiana are good all year 'round.  And the shopping at antique malls never stops.

There's no better spiritual retreat than Epworth Forest!  The spirits of the saints, saints like you and me and our ancestors, are everywhere and the scenery is beautiful.  Roxanne and I looked out the window and saw 7 (seven) deer walk across the lake form the bird sanctuary to our yard and it was wonderful.  We've all written our names in the snow, made snow angels, some ice skating and I've even eaten snow ice cream, have you?

A Winter Cabin Rental would be perfect for you.  Lake Cottage Rentals Indiana, Vacation Rentals Indiana, Indiana Weekend Getaway and Vacation Rentals Indiana are something we do for you and our family and friends because they're valuable to the soul and to the collective peace of mind.  Spring really is just around the corner but like the song says: "lighten up while you still can...take it easy."

Happy New Year From Our Lakefront Cabin Rentals

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

This Christmas we had renters at our Winter Cabin Rental.  We hope they enjoyed the log cabin holiday trimmings and woodland environment inside and out Epworth Forest.  I am sure waking up to the Lake Webster view and snow just added to their Christmas joy!

We loved sharing time with local family and friends at our personal home but had a ache in our heart when our North Webster, Indiana cabin friends/ neighbor sent us this pic of our northern Indiana Rental Weekend getaway on Christmas Day. They had snow on Christmas!

We plan to finish up our 2009 year and celebrate the New Year's Holiday at our cozy Log Cabin.  It will be the perfect setting to ring out the old and bring in the new year.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas from our Indiana Log Cabin

Tuesday, December 22, 2009 by Roxanne Turner
"Isn't it funny that at Christmas something in you gets so lonely for - I don't know what exactly, but it's something that you don't mind so much not having at other times" ~Kate L. Bosher

I recently saw this posted quote on a friends face book page and it struck a chord.  I could so relate and know that others can too.  Perhaps the older you get the more meaning this quote might mean.  Christmas has a way of taking you back in time, thought and feelings.  It brings forth all your past Christmas memories especially those perceived through the innocence of your childhood eye's or the fondest times of all in your past Christmas experiences and memories.  What can truly compete with a memory if you decide it was the best ever?  I believe ones life can be very fulfilled and feel no remiss during the year yet who amongst us at some time doesn't have a longing for a simpler life of being a child or  what they recalled that really brought them love, peace and joy?  There are very few people that live with the spirit of Christmas in their hearts 364 days a year... yet when we hear a Christmas carol being sung, or watch a Christmas movie we yearn and focus on those scared moments in our life with loved ones that really matter.

Christmas can be very magical as our hearts shift to miracles, faith and gifts of all kinds. During the holiday season we pause to honor things of true meaning including our past and often this call of loneliness we hear is just a ghost whisper from the past.   Christmas transforms our thinking to giving and honoring love.  As years past things change, families do grow up, families can move apart, relationships may fail and break apart, we lose loved ones to passing, perhaps don't stay connected as we want to with dear friends, we grow older and shift our likes and dislikes, and we live daily with grown up responsibilities. Life is ever constantly changing and yet time can have it's way of standing still in our mind during the holiday season. Christmas takes us back to our beginnings. A special day where we can't help but feel the "Spirit of Christmas" and the importance of love, loved ones, and the childhood that formed us.  We realize we can't go back, and take stock of who and what we are today in gratitude for all those experiences that bring us to yet another Christmas Day.

Yes, many of us will feel a nagging ache and longing for that which was was and for those things, people, places and memories we rarely recall throughout the year.  I think it is part of the tapestry of life and perhaps Christmas makes us more conscious  in honoring the past and then reflecting on our current blessings that have been bestowed upon us in our life journey.

May your Christmas Season be full of love, wonderful family memories.. and finding time to always ...Take It Easy in life

Merry Christmas!

PS:  Our Lakefront Cabin Rentals located in the Epworth Forest area in North Webster, Indiana has been creating family memories and Christmas traditions since the mid 1950's.
This Winter Cabin Rental has such a long history of family memories throughout  the year.  Our Northern Indiana Cabin Rentals was built out of love by Rev. LG Sapp & Emily Sapp. We hope you will reserve some time in 2010 to spend time at our log cabin and make family memories that will last forever.

In Loving Remembrance of Dad

Sunday, December 20, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Unfortunately, My Dad never visited our Muskie Fishing Indiana Cabin located in North Webster, Indiana. He passed prior to Wesley and I ever meeting.  Yet, we both know that this would have been one of his favorite Indiana Log Cabin Getaways.  Dad loved to golf, boat and fish.  He would have loved everything about this cabin including the fact that Lake Webster is known for great Muskie fishing and a golf course that is less than 10 minutes away.  He loved the outdoors, cooking out, family gatherings, early morning dawns on the lake, crappie fishing and keeping life simple.

We have two boats that we use at our cabin. One is a newer speed boat and the other is a very old pontoon boat that has a definite "Beverly Hillbilly" look to it!  Years ago, We christened it with a new name after my dad.  He was nicked named "Punk" as a child but was far from that as an adult.  He was 6'2 and a big man.  A real man's man.  In his honor in a fun way.. we renamed the boat "Punk's Party Barge"  He would of cared less about how the boat looked but just that it functioned!  Maybe a lesson I am still learning:)  We have had most all of my family members to our cabin except for a few who live in distant states.  They have all agreed and commented on how Dad and (Grandpa) would have loved it here.  He would have felt like he had a slice of paradise.

Dad passed away in December of 1994 and even though he never experienced the love of this cabin his spirit is felt here and many of his future generations feel a love and remembrance of him when they gather here.  This is a place that he would have loved!

The Christmas Holiday brings up many memories from the past to the current.  We keep his memory alive in many ways including a framed pic of him at our cabin with a big catch!

One of my regrets is that he did not get to share this cabin life experience with me and our family. Yet we will continue to keep his memory alive.

Here is a montage of a "In Remembrance of my Dad"

The Spirit of Christmas

Thursday, December 17, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

We have spent the last two weekends sharing in the holiday spirit with family members at our Vacation Rentals Indiana cabin.

This past weekend we had our niece Molly, husband and their 3 children join us.  I must say there is an extra magic at the cabin when little ones come to visit.  Their laughter and Christmas excitement lights up our cabin.  We had a full day of treats that included sipping hot chocolate with mini marsh mellows, unwrapping gifts found under the tree, and in making Christmas sugar cookies.

Lake Webster was frozen in sections allowing the outside Christmas lights to cast a nice glow and reflection over the ice.
Our winter rental cabin is a perfect holiday setting to welcome children, family and friends.

Log Cabin Family Christmas Decorating

Wednesday, December 9, 2009 by Roxanne Turner
Last weekend a few family members of our Vacation Rentals Indiana log cabin gathered to decorate our winter cabin rental Christmas Tree.  It was a fun weekend of stringing the lights and hanging the new "woodland theme" Christmas ornaments that I carefully selected.  We love the cozy glow of the Christmas tree and the lights out back that look out on Lake Webster from our Lakefront Cabin Rentals.

We had a loving weekend of decorating, eating, playing cards and watching one of our families favorite Christmas movies... Christmas Vacation.  I have seen it so many times but still laugh when the squirrel jumps out of the tree.

Next weekend we have more family members coming with young children to visit the cabin... Can't wait!

HO HO HO!!!!

Christmas Tree trimming planned for our "Cabin Sweet Cabin"

Wednesday, December 2, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

This weekend we are packing up the pets and joining Wesley's youngest daughter and son in-law along with their dog to decorate our northern Indiana winter rental cabin. I enjoy decorating and for the past couple years I have been changing out old traditional cabin Christmas ornaments and replacing them with more of a rustic woodland theme.

Our North Webster cabin can be so cozy in the winter with the upstairs and downstairs fireplaces going, Christmas tunes and sipping hot chocolate as we trim the Christmas Tree.  There's nothing like watching the snow fall over Lake Webster or catching a glimpse of deer walk over the frozen lake.

We have a fun weekend planned at our log cabin in Epworth Forest full of family dinners and activities.  I may even enlist the families help in making a few homemade cinnamon stick Christmas ornaments for the tree.  Maybe a few area friends will stop over for some holiday cheer.  We can't wait to create another family memory at our beloved Indiana Weekend Getaway Cabin.

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer from our Epworth Forest Cabin

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer

Lord, so often times, as any other day
When we sit down to our meal and pray

We hurry along and make fast the blessing
Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing

We're slaves to the olfactory overload
We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold

But Lord, I'd like to take a few minute more
To really give thanks to what I'm thankful for

For my family, my health, a nice soft bed
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head

I'm thankful right now to be surrounded by those
Whose lives touch me more than they'll ever possibly know

Thankful Lord, that You've blessed me beyond measure
Thankful that in my heart lives life's greatest treasure

That You, dear God, reside in that place
And I'm ever so grateful for Your unending grace

So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You've provided
And bless each and every person invited

Amen!
--Scott Wesemann

From our family to yours, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you are able to find time to relax and enjoy family, even if it's not at our Epworth Forest Cabin.  If you're looking for a rent cabin Indiana home for this holiday season, check out the Take It Easy Cabin.  There are still open weeks and weekends throughout the end of the year.

Thanksgiving 2009

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

This will be a special year at Epworth Forest.  I don't recall ever visiting the Lake Webster Fishing area during Thanksgiving week.  It should be great and, bonus, our friends the Fribley's will be at their Cabin Rental Indiana "Panorama" this week too.

We've had a very mild fall.  Great for Muskie Fishing Indiana.  Now it's time to prepare for our Winter Cabin Rental.  We're spending 2 weekends with family at the cabin in December and then, another first, we have guests staying at Take It Easy Cabin on Christmas Eve.  Happy Holidays everyone!

Celebrate families and togetherness this Thanksgiving Day

Monday, November 16, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Celebrate families and togetherness this Thanksgiving Day at our Epworth Forest Winter Cabin rental with some time-honored traditions, which gives one a sense of family identity and meaningfulness that can last for generations. Here are some ideas from Susie Cortright for starting new family traditions - and for revering the old ones:

1. Sit down with your family and reminisce about your childhood celebrations. What do you remember most about Thanksgiving and the days that follow? Thanksgiving traditions can be much more than just food and recipes. In what ways did your childhood traditions symbolize particular values, such as abundance, generosity, the importance of family? What would you like to do that's the same? What would you do like to do differently?

2. Make a small booklet or a mini scrapbook album (which you can either make or purchase.) Write "Five Things I Love About My Family and Friends" and keep it out on the table during your Thanksgiving celebration. Each guest can come and record thoughts and insights. Other themes to try: "Five Things I'm Thankful For" or "Five Wishes for my Family and Friends." An even simpler approach would be to put one sheet of cardstock out for each year - and combine them together over the years in a Thanksgiving Gratitude Scrapbook.

3. Keep a Family Gratitude Journal through the year. Each night, a family member can share something that they are grateful for. Share the highlights of this family tradition at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day.

4. Make a Gratitude Circle. Before the Thanksgiving meal, everyone stands and holds hands in a circle. Guests each take a turn sharing what they are grateful for. Or - if your guests are on the shy side - ask everyone to write down their blessings on a piece of paper, which you can read before or after dinner.

5. Designate a particular tablecloth for your family Thanksgiving celebrations. Provide fabric markers where guests can record their "gratitudes" or special prayers for the year ahead. Ask your guests to sign and date each message, as you'll be using the same tablecloth year after year.

7. Make a hostess gift for the person who is cooking this year. Purchase an apron or a t-shirt or a gift album with sentiments of thanks from each guest. Present the gift after dinner.

8. Show your gratitude to an unsung hero. Get together with your family and decide on a person or a group in your community who could use an extra pat on the back, ie. firefighters, soldiers, police officers, volunteers. Put together a special plate of goodies and deliver it (or pack it up for shipping) as a family.

9. Preserve your traditions. After the meal, record everyone's favorite activities. Appoint one person to be the scribe - or ask everyone to jot down a few thoughts. And don't forget to take lots of photos. It's fun to place disposable cameras throughout the house so everyone can capture bits of the action.

Our Vacation Home Indiana Log Cabin is the perfect place to create family moments and traditions over the holidays.

Halloween Fun at the Barbee Hotel Bar & Grill

Friday, November 13, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

We had a great time spending our first Halloween weekend at our winter cabin rental.  We thought it would be only fitting to have Halloween dinner at the Barbee Restaurant since it is rumored to be haunted.
None of us dressed up in any planned costume but put on a few last minute Halloween accents to mark the occasion

We have blogged in the past about how fun the Barbee Restaurant and bar in Warsaw, IN can be, but this time our dinners were just terrible  Maybe the Chef was having a bad night or the ghost were playing tricks by messing up the kitchen  Nevertheless we didn't let this spoil our Lakefront Cabin Rentals visit.
