Spring Will Spring Up Soon

Friday, February 26, 2010 by Wesley Duke Sapp
Who's ready for it? If you're ready to make a move mentally and want to get set for what you're going to do first why not book your spring visit to Lake Cottage Rentals Indiana for this spring?

Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Lady Slipper Orchids and Trillium's are Spring Ephemerals that begin to grow and bloom in late February through April then lie dormant in May or June.  They won't last long so come and see them while you can.  Take a walk and you'll run into them for sure or you may see them from your boat.

Many anglers are surprised to learn that Indiana cat fishing is some of the best in the world. In the early part of spring around May and June the catfish are searching for a place to spawn, which means they are also very hungry during this time. They will be incredibly active and in search of food.  April through May are some months when Crappie Fishing Indiana is great because they are beginning to bite now that the waters have opened-up and are warming.

Close your eyes and imagine getting out for some Muskie Fishing Indiana and then pick up the phone and call Take It Easy Cabin for your Vacation Rentals Indiana at 317-625-2782 or 574-453-4098 today!

Indiana Highway 13...The Road To Small Town Treasures

Saturday, January 30, 2010 by Roxanne Turner
One of the joys of going to our Vacation Rentals Indiana Cabin can be found in the shopping stops we make along the way to the many stores we have discovered.  Of course, there are many ways to get to our North Webster Lake Cabin Rental and it will depend on what direction you are coming from.  One of our preferences is to travel Highway 13 North from Fishers, IN.  It takes you through Elwood, Wabash, North Manchester, Pierceton and then North Webster, IN and then on into Epworth Forest.   When you travel this path you not only get a taste of the small town Indiana flavor but find wonderful hidden treasures in each store.

There are many shops that I could blog about but I wanted to make mention of a few of the favorites that come to mind. Kitchens Plus is located in Wabash, IN  and is a must visit. Do not let the name fool you as, yes they specialize in kitchens, but when they say PLUS... they mean it.  They have so much more!  This store is over flowing with a variety of unique items with emphasis on primitive home decor.  The owners and staff are extremely friendly and talented.  The store has an interior designer's touch and is creatively decorated with awesome displays. If you own a cabin or love primitive this is a great place to shop.

In North Manchester, IN.. you will find a very quaint and friendly downtown.  You don't want to miss stopping in Nordman's Nook for gifts and the best homemade cookies, pies and cakes. Travel down a little further into town and you will find Home Again gift shop.  This is a favorite store for shoppers in the area.  Home Again offers an array of items from gifts, jewelry, home decor and children's toys.  The Owner greets each guest with individualized attention and has a good variety of quality products.

Once you enter Pierceton, IN you will find a wonderful antique shop called Sydow's Antiques.  The Owner is extremely knowledgeable about antiques and has very rare collectibles in his shop.

Upon entering our final destination, North Webster, IN you will find an array of shops in the heart of downtown. We are partial to this community and it's store's so it's hard to say that one shop is better than the other.

We highly recommend North Webster's Ace Hardware Store and it's emphasis on seasonal items.  The Third Generation Antique Store is packed with antiques/collectibles and hidden treasures. The store owners are very friendly and the pricing is great.  Olson's Furniture Store is the perfect place to find inside cabin or lake cottage furnishings along with outdoor furniture and decor.  The Golden Mermaid is a must see for visitors or cabin renters as they have all sorts of lake memorabilia to buy for souvenirs.
So if you are ever in this area or on your way to our "Take It Easy Cabin"... enjoy and savor your trip by stopping in one of these merchant's locations.

Our Vacation Home Indiana Cabin is located just 2 1/2 hours from northern Indianapolis.  This Indiana Log Cabin views Lake Webster and the lake is known for Muskie Fishing.   Reserve a date today to enjoy the adventure of travels and shopping to our Lakefront Cabin Rental.

Haiti, Then and Now

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 by Wesley Duke Sapp

When I was young my Dad and Mom took me to Haiti.  I learned that this is a beautiful land and these are beautiful people like you and me.  But you could stand in one spot and look in one direction and see beautiful palm trees, beaches, boats and oceans then turn your had a there was poverty, human waste in the streets, shantytowns and ugliness.

This country was a beautiful land back then with fishing just like ours.  Granted it was different than Muskie Fishing Indiana, Bass Fishing Indiana, Crappie Fishing Indiana, Vacation Rentals Indiana but they love things like fishing, boats, water and goodness just like you and I do.  They love their babies, their families their friends and even their shacks too.

Now Haiti's been hurt by the terrible tragedy of the earthquake.  Now the ugliness has spread and brought with it more pain and suffering.  They were finding happiness where they could then like you and me but now what little they had has been rocked.  Right now these people need our help, not later, now!

If you know Epworth Forest, if you understand fishing, if you love your family, friends and acquaintances, then your spirit knows it's time to help them now.  If you don't know the spirit of Take It Easy Cabin and our area, but you know compassion, then you know what I'm writing about.

Anyone who comes to our Cabin for spiritual healing, or fishing or whatever, we'll give what we can in your honor to Haiti relief.  We'll donate 25% of whatever we get from rentals to Haiti from now 'til the end of FEB 2009.  If you want a receipt, we'll give you one.  We're doing the best we can and hope you are too.  "Lighten up while you still can...take it easy."

Sincerely,

Duke & Roxanne, 317-625-2782

PS We are so blessed, and if you're reading this so are you, we have been touched and are trying to help, so let's take the time make a difference for those in so much pain. WDS

In Loving Remembrance of Dad

Sunday, December 20, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Unfortunately, My Dad never visited our Muskie Fishing Indiana Cabin located in North Webster, Indiana. He passed prior to Wesley and I ever meeting.  Yet, we both know that this would have been one of his favorite Indiana Log Cabin Getaways.  Dad loved to golf, boat and fish.  He would have loved everything about this cabin including the fact that Lake Webster is known for great Muskie fishing and a golf course that is less than 10 minutes away.  He loved the outdoors, cooking out, family gatherings, early morning dawns on the lake, crappie fishing and keeping life simple.

We have two boats that we use at our cabin. One is a newer speed boat and the other is a very old pontoon boat that has a definite "Beverly Hillbilly" look to it!  Years ago, We christened it with a new name after my dad.  He was nicked named "Punk" as a child but was far from that as an adult.  He was 6'2 and a big man.  A real man's man.  In his honor in a fun way.. we renamed the boat "Punk's Party Barge"  He would of cared less about how the boat looked but just that it functioned!  Maybe a lesson I am still learning:)  We have had most all of my family members to our cabin except for a few who live in distant states.  They have all agreed and commented on how Dad and (Grandpa) would have loved it here.  He would have felt like he had a slice of paradise.

Dad passed away in December of 1994 and even though he never experienced the love of this cabin his spirit is felt here and many of his future generations feel a love and remembrance of him when they gather here.  This is a place that he would have loved!

The Christmas Holiday brings up many memories from the past to the current.  We keep his memory alive in many ways including a framed pic of him at our cabin with a big catch!

One of my regrets is that he did not get to share this cabin life experience with me and our family. Yet we will continue to keep his memory alive.

Here is a montage of a "In Remembrance of my Dad"

Thanksgiving 2009

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

This will be a special year at Epworth Forest.  I don't recall ever visiting the Lake Webster Fishing area during Thanksgiving week.  It should be great and, bonus, our friends the Fribley's will be at their Cabin Rental Indiana "Panorama" this week too.

We've had a very mild fall.  Great for Muskie Fishing Indiana.  Now it's time to prepare for our Winter Cabin Rental.  We're spending 2 weekends with family at the cabin in December and then, another first, we have guests staying at Take It Easy Cabin on Christmas Eve.  Happy Holidays everyone!

The Fall That's Yet to Come

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

It's been cool lately.  We have had plenty of rain.  That's good for the fall colors at Lake Cottage Rentals Indiana.  What I've been told by people who seem to know is that the cool summer and the rain we've had recently will combine to make the trees around lake Webster show spectacular colors!

Epworth Forest is full of trees.  There are some tremendous specimens right around Take It Easy Cabin.  Looking out from the cabin across Epworth Bay towards the bird Sanctuary and the other side of the lake gives Roxanne and I what we like to think of as a beautiful view.

Muskie Fishing Indiana will be a treat this fall because when you're on on the water making 1 of 10,000 casts you'll be surrounded by Oak, Cherry, Shag Bark Hickory, Black Walnut and Sugar Maple trees yielding their palate of glorious chroma.  And, of course, the lillypads are catching their last gasps before hibernation...flowers and leaves taking it all in...

When Rox says "let's take a ride on the pontoon" we know we're in for a colorful treat, a glass of wine and the feelings we can only get here at the Indiana Log Cabin we love so much all year long.

Fall Is So Good

Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Fireplace Inside, Crisp Air, Lake Cottage Rentals Indiana, Walks by the Water, Boat-ride with a Blanket, and Catch the BIG ONE or BUY THAT TREASURE for CHEAP!

Put away the summer toys and get ready for the future.  The future at Indiana Lake Cabins means good fishin'; Muskie Fishing Indiana, Bass Fishing Indiana and Crappie Fishing Indiana and good Shoppin'.

Guide services are plentiful for Northern Indiana Fishing via Ye Olde Tacklebox, Google or call me, I can help.  Webster is a tricky lake.  Man-made from 7 (seven) holes there are 50 foot drops and shallows that go on seemingly forever.

The antique stores in 'Webster are stocked with unrealized treasures fro the rich folk who don't know what they're givin' up.  Shipshewanna is happening' with cornstalks, pumpkins, gourds and all the fruits of the harvest.  'Though Sweetcorn Charlie is closed, there are still locals with roadside stands of veggies, fruit and love to share.  Come on, you've got a cabin...

We have been blogging for a long time about how great our Northern Indiana Cabin Rentals is on Lake Webster in Epworth Forest.  Here are some recent comments left in our guest book.  Each entry has touched our heart in the fact that many others have been able to make memorable moments at the cabin.  Our Indiana Weekend Getaway Cabin was built in the early 50's and continues to offer a charm and magic that brings guest and family coming back year after year.

Your cabin was so perfect, it came equipped with everything.  Our family had a great time fishing, boating, tubing and jet sking.  Our son is leaving for his first year of college so it was great to have this family time together before he leaves.  We hope to come back next year.
PS Our dog (Coco) had a great time too.
God Bless!

We have enjoyed your cabin very much.  It is a great place to get away from it all.  Being here reminds me of my childhood in Kentucky.  We have had our grandchildren join us and they have loved it too.  They loved the fishing and the ride on the Dixie.  Together we ate popcorn, watched the swans and their babies.  I think they have learned that the simple things in life can be the most memorable and fun.
Thanks for sharing the cabin!

This place was very relaxing and was a good place to just sit and do nothing.  We fished off the pier and watched tons of birds and took pictures.  The cottage was well furnished and super clean.  We will come back again, and tell others about this place.
Great Job!

Labor Day Weekend Memories at Take It Easy

Monday, August 31, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

We're so excited to be heading to  "Take It Easy" Cabin our Vacation Rentals Indiana cabin this Labor Day weekend.  It has been a tradition for us to reserve this holiday for our own personal use year after year. Last year's Labor Day weekend was full of family love, and joy for Wesley and I.  We enjoyed high 80 degree days and lots of family moments to cherish for a lifetime.  My sister and brother-in law came in from Georgia along with my niece, her husband and their 3 children, and two of my nephews children who all reside in Indy joined us for a memorable time at the cabin.

My sister Vickie and her husband had never been to our cabin before.  They flew into Indianapolis and we drove together to the cabin.  Once we arrived we gave them the welcome tour of our Vacation Rentals Indiana Cabin and headed out to the back lower level deck that looks out onto Lake Webster.  We gathered around the picnic table and shared wonderful conversations as the sun was beginning to set and didn't go inside until way after dark.  We ordered in our favorite local pizza from the Lighthouse Restaurant and started up the fireplace. Our conversation and laughter continued until the wee hours of the morning.  The next day was full of activities including Big Sister Vickie and I going on a shopping adventure at Lance's Supermarket in North Webster, IN.  My Sister loves to cook so once you get her in a grocery store it can be hours before you leave:)  Meanwhile back at the cabin, Wes and my brother in law Maurice are cruising Lake Webster on the boat.  Wesley gives him the tour of all the Island houses, along with where all the best Muskie Fishing Indiana spots are located. Wesley gave a personal history lesson about his past life experiences with the cabin.  Once we arrived back to the cabin we all climbed aboard the boat and cruised Lake Webster for the better part of the day. On Sunday, the rest of the family arrives from Indy.  We all enjoyed the lake on two boats (our speedboat and Punk's Old Party Barge boat) The day unfolds to swimming, cookouts, fire pit marsh mellow roastings and inside games that followed prior to retiring to bed only to awake the next morning to a family gathering of biscuits and gravy breakfast served outside.  It was a  wonderful time and beautiful family memories where made.

I would be remiss in this blog not to point out one missing family member in our gathering last Labor Day and that was my middle sister who passed away from breast cancer in 2005. My middle sister, Gema, shared a wonderful weekend here together with her husband and her youngest daughter in the fall of 2004.  My niece Molly, who visited us last year is her oldest daughter and we had a total of five of Gema's grandchildren with us this past Labor Day.  Her memory, and her smile lives on in two of Molly's children.

Our Indiana Weekend Getaway Cabin is a beautiful place to make memories with friends and family!

Take a Breakfast Break to Maria's Pancake House

Sunday, August 30, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

When the sun rises above our Vacation Home Indiana Log Cabin and cast it's early morning rays over Lake Webster our appetites begin to stir.  Often we prepare our breakfast at the cabin and seat ourselves around the table to enjoy the view of the lake and nature.  Then there are other times when we don't want to deal with the preparation and clean up an head out to Maria's Pancake House in North Webster, IN.  Maria's is usually packed do to it's reputation for good food.  Maria's offers excellent service along with a historical wall mural of various pics of the town and areas history.  It's a great place to start your day before the daily cabin activities of bass or muskie fishing, boating, tubing or hiking.

Launch Your Boat

Saturday, August 22, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp
There are 3 place on Lake Webster where you can launch you boat.  The best for Fishing Boats and Runabouts is at the Indiana DNR Public Fishing Site on Backwater.  It's free!  But you need to go through the tubes to get to Lake Webster.  Maximum size approx. 18' Runabout or Fishing Boat.

So if you're a fisherman; Bass Fishing Indiana, Crappie Fishing Indiana or Muskie Fishing Indiana that's the ramp I recommend.

The other ramps are at Webster Lakeshore Marina and at the town of North Webster.  These are easy to get to but the ramp at the marina is very long and the ramp near Fisherman's Cove in town is at a 90 degree angle to the road.  Easy for an expert, tough for anybody else.

It's all good...just bring your boat and come out to our lake cottage.  The kindly folk around the area, affectionately known as "Lake Trash," will help you put in no matter what size the craft.

The Revealing Sunrise

Thursday, August 6, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

It's early as I write this.  When the sun comes up over Lake Webster it sometimes casts a purpleish yellowish color across the sky.  There's a picture of it at the top of the home page of this blog.  Epworth Forest is in the middle of the horseshoe shaped lake and the Log Cabin Indiana faces East so the view is spectacular.

As the sun reaches it's peak it reveals lots of good areas for Muskie Fishing Indiana, Bass Fishing Indiana and Crappie Fishing Indiana.

You don't need to get up early everyday but it's nice for a change!

Lake Webster Fishing Cottage

Thursday, July 23, 2009 by Jess Wehner
If you are planning a bass fishing Indiana or a muskie fishing Indiana trip, why not book a stay at the Take It Easy cabin on Lake Webster, Indiana?  Not only is the lakefront cabin rentals full of amenities for you and your friends to stay, it's also on one of the best lakes in Indiana!  For those of you researching the lake, here is a little more information I gathered from the Webster Lake Guide Service:

WEBSTER LAKE

Surface Area : Main Lake 585 Acres
With Backwaters 774 Acres

Max Depth : 52 feet

Average Depth : 12 feet

Main Forage : Shad, Crappie, Bluegill, Perch, Bullhead and Carp

Accessibility : State owned public access with ramp on channel between backwater lake and Webster off  Backwater rd in North Webster

Located in Kosciusko county, Lake Webster is Indiana's Brood stock & Premier Musky Lake. The DNR says that there is an average of 6 adult fish per acre with the average length at around 38". That can make for an awesome day on the water with several follows and hook ups this is usually a good action lake. It is also a great Crappie and Bass fishery. The DNR is currently doing a PIT tag study that Webster Lake Guide service is participating in.

If you're looking for a guided fishing trip, check out the Lake Webster Guide Service site.

Indiana Fishing Cabin Available

Friday, July 10, 2009 by Jess Wehner
We still have availability for the later part of the summer at the Take It Easy Cabin, on Lake Webster.  Webster is known to be a great Bass Fishing Indiana Lake and Muskie Fishing Indiana Lake, and we're positive you and your group will have a great time fishing, relaxing, and soaking up some sun.

The Indiana Musky and Bass Fishing Adventure Guide describes Lake Webster as:

"Shallow, weedy flats, awesome breaklines, excellent open water fishing, and "full of fish" are the best ways to describe Lake Webster.  Heavy annual stocking provides great numbers of fish while the possibility of catching the next state record has made this the most popular muskie lake in the state."

To book your stay at our Vacation Home Indiana Cabin, just check the calendar in the sidebar and call today.  Hurry, August and September are already starting to fill up!

Get close up and personal with Indiana Log Cabin nature

Saturday, May 9, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

There is so much nature to be found at our Indiana Log Cabin rentals property.  One of my favorite birds to watch in the late spring and summer is the Hummingbird.  I have always found these birds to be so magical and beautiful.

When you stroll by the banks of Lake Webster and through the lots it is not uncommon to see turtles, bass and crappie fish jumping along with swirls of muskie and schools of  blue gill, sun fish, and perch (on a clear day).

It is common to spot  raccoons, beavers, muskrats, groundhogs, deer. frogs, butterflies, bees,  and a few pesky skeeters too. Here at Epworth Forest  you're surrounded by the calming and beautiful gifts of nature.

Lake Webster Offers Plenty of Big Catches Too

Saturday, May 2, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

My nephew Chuck (pictured left above) just got back from a awesome fishing trip on the Osage River.. He just posted some of his great catches that I just had to share at least one!  Wow, now that's a catch!  He loves to fish as he started very young with my Dad (Grandpa) who was a avid fisherman.  I have invited him to our Log Cabin Indiana Rental this summer as there are plenty of fish to be caught in Lake Webster too.
Lake Webster is not only known for being one of the best Midwest lakes for Muskie fishing but there is a great population of  Black Crappie, Bluegill, Large mouth Bass, Muskie, Redear Sunfish , and Yellow Perch to be caught too!

Crappie Fish Are Biting At Our Vacation Home Indiana

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

The crappie fish were definitely biting this past weekend when Wes and I did another Indiana Weekend Getaway to our cabin rental Indiana.  I made sales calls around the North Webster, IN area that day and took my lunch break at our Indiana rental cabin in Epworth Forest. I enjoyed lunch seated at our  picnic table that views Lake Webster.  I couldn't believe how many fishermen were playing hooky on this spring Friday.

It was obvious that the word was out that the fish were biting right outside our pier.
It was a beautiful sunny day and not only could I hear the spring frogs chirping but also overheard some of the conversations from the fisherman.  I heard one Fisherman say "There are ton's of crappie over here, most of them are males"

There were at least 8-10  fishing boats in close proximity to our cabin shore line.  Sadly, I couldn't hang around much longer than a hour as I had sales appointments to attend to.  I knew I would be returning later that evening to a peaceful sunset over the lake and the fishermen would still be there.. and they were!
No surprise as our lakefront rental views a lake that is known for catching all sorts of fish including being renown for the best spot ever for Muskie Fishing Indiana.
