Spring Will Spring Up Soon

Friday, February 26, 2010 by Wesley Duke Sapp
Who's ready for it? If you're ready to make a move mentally and want to get set for what you're going to do first why not book your spring visit to Lake Cottage Rentals Indiana for this spring?

Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Lady Slipper Orchids and Trillium's are Spring Ephemerals that begin to grow and bloom in late February through April then lie dormant in May or June.  They won't last long so come and see them while you can.  Take a walk and you'll run into them for sure or you may see them from your boat.

Many anglers are surprised to learn that Indiana cat fishing is some of the best in the world. In the early part of spring around May and June the catfish are searching for a place to spawn, which means they are also very hungry during this time. They will be incredibly active and in search of food.  April through May are some months when Crappie Fishing Indiana is great because they are beginning to bite now that the waters have opened-up and are warming.

Close your eyes and imagine getting out for some Muskie Fishing Indiana and then pick up the phone and call Take It Easy Cabin for your Vacation Rentals Indiana at 317-625-2782 or 574-453-4098 today!

Enjoy A Winter Cabin Rental Weekend for $300.00

Sunday, February 14, 2010 by Roxanne Turner
This years Indiana winter weather has been intense.  We have dealt with days full of snow, sleet, ice, freezing fog and single digit temps!  It's hard to take it easy when you are dealing with old man winter being so contrary.  Yet there has been tremendous beauty in the nature of winter this year with the glistening ice shimmering off tree branches, or in seeing beautiful snow caps lay on evergreen limbs.  There is a cute parade of front yard snowmen in our neighborhood carefully made by the delight of children and family. It's a delight to awake to the hush in the air of new fallen snow and watch a neighbors dog try to romp through the snow drifts. Most of us can't stop to really enjoy the fun of winter during the work week but come the weekend it can be a fun family adventure.

Our Vacation Rentals Indiana Getaway is located in Epworth Forest in North Webster, IN.
It is a great place for a winter family reprieve  This Indiana Vacation rental offers a lakefront view of Lake Webster, offering activities of ice-fishing, sledding, ice-skating and making snowmen. There's nothing like taking a walk across the frozen lake and marking your initials or name in the ice or snow, followed up by the warmth inside to two toasty fireplaces (one on each level) along with a hot cup of coca.  It's not unusual to spot a deer family right outside the cabin doors. Now until the end of March we are offering a Indiana Winter Getaway Special. For only $300.00 you can enjoy winter at it's best from Friday until Sunday.

Make reservations today to treat you and your family to some Indiana Winter fun!

We visited our Indiana Pet Friendly Cabins the other weekend and had a great time with our little baby - Ruthie.  Here she is sitting by the fire place, warming up from a cold walk outside.

Christmas Tree trimming planned for our "Cabin Sweet Cabin"

Wednesday, December 2, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

This weekend we are packing up the pets and joining Wesley's youngest daughter and son in-law along with their dog to decorate our northern Indiana winter rental cabin. I enjoy decorating and for the past couple years I have been changing out old traditional cabin Christmas ornaments and replacing them with more of a rustic woodland theme.

Our North Webster cabin can be so cozy in the winter with the upstairs and downstairs fireplaces going, Christmas tunes and sipping hot chocolate as we trim the Christmas Tree.  There's nothing like watching the snow fall over Lake Webster or catching a glimpse of deer walk over the frozen lake.

We have a fun weekend planned at our log cabin in Epworth Forest full of family dinners and activities.  I may even enlist the families help in making a few homemade cinnamon stick Christmas ornaments for the tree.  Maybe a few area friends will stop over for some holiday cheer.  We can't wait to create another family memory at our beloved Indiana Weekend Getaway Cabin.

Warm up to a fall bonfire in Epworth Forest

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

The nights are definitely cooler now and the breeze carries the scent of the leaves falling and a hint of birch bark crackling somewhere close by. Just the thought of it makes you feel cozy and ready to pack up the marshmallows and chocolate,  hot dogs,  coco, or warm apple cider and head out to our fire pit area at our Vacation Rentals Indiana Cabin. We have bonfires in the summer and fall yet during the summer months it can get a bit heated by the fire with all the humidity.  Fall is the best time to really enjoy a full blown bonfire. Wesley or one of his friends usually brings out a guitar, and we huddle around the fire to exchange stories, laughter and fun.  Having a bonfire is a wonderful way to connect with friends and family.

On you next Indiana Getaway Bring The Whole Family

Friday, September 25, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

We are quite the pet lovers in our household.  Our pets are like family to us and we enjoy taking them with us whenever possible.  There are certain vacations when we hire a pet sitter but when we are headed to our Vacation Rentals Indiana Cabin they come with us.  Both are pets enjoy this beautiful retreat to nature and it doesn't take any coaching to get our Maltese (Rivera) to go bye-bye.  Once our pets see our bags packed and their pet carriers they climb in ready to go.

So on your next Indiana getaway to our Indiana Pet Friendly cabin you can relax knowing that all those you love the most can share in your vacation experience.  There's nothing like sitting out on the back deck while sipping a cup of coffee and viewing Lake Webster with your four legged companions by your side or resting in front of one of our two crackling fireplaces in the winter with them snuggled in your lap.

Enjoy Fall Comfort Food at our Lake Cabin Indiana

Wednesday, September 23, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Fall is here. The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder and it's the perfect time for some delicious fall comfort food.  Epworth Forest is awesome in the fall with all the turning leaves on the trees with spectacular fall colors.  It's an extremely cozy time of the year to enjoy fall walks and the two fireplaces.  There are great trails around Lake Webster and a great place to walk your pets since we are a Indiana Pet Friendly Cabin.

We have a fully equipped kitchen and there is nothing like the warm aroma of a home cooked meal to enhance the setting of the natural log wood inside.   If you are ready for new twist menu this fall season then try out this easy  Pumpkin Chili recipe

We have been blogging for a long time about how great our Northern Indiana Cabin Rentals is on Lake Webster in Epworth Forest.  Here are some recent comments left in our guest book.  Each entry has touched our heart in the fact that many others have been able to make memorable moments at the cabin.  Our Indiana Weekend Getaway Cabin was built in the early 50's and continues to offer a charm and magic that brings guest and family coming back year after year.

Your cabin was so perfect, it came equipped with everything.  Our family had a great time fishing, boating, tubing and jet sking.  Our son is leaving for his first year of college so it was great to have this family time together before he leaves.  We hope to come back next year.
PS Our dog (Coco) had a great time too.
God Bless!

We were blessed to vacation here in this beautiful cabin.  We've been coming to North Webster for 25 years and we enjoy this setting the best.  I enjoyed thinking about the history of this cabin and all the memories made here.  We look forward to coming back.

We have enjoyed your cabin very much.  It is a great place to get away from it all.  Being here reminds me of my childhood in Kentucky.  We have had our grandchildren join us and they have loved it too.  They loved the fishing and the ride on the Dixie.  Together we ate popcorn, watched the swans and their babies.  I think they have learned that the simple things in life can be the most memorable and fun.
Thanks for sharing the cabin!

This place was very relaxing and was a good place to just sit and do nothing.  We fished off the pier and watched tons of birds and took pictures.  The cottage was well furnished and super clean.  We will come back again, and tell others about this place.
Great Job!

We had a magnificent weekend!  This cabin was way beyond our expectations.  Fishing was also spectacular with my 10 year old daughter Leah catching a 38' musky along with dozens of others.  We will definitely be back in October.  Thanks for providing such a warm and inviting cabin.
Warmest Regards,

Dog Days of Summer at the Lake

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

Man it used to be hot & humid with no AC at Indiana Lake Cabins!  All we had was cool Lake Webster Fishing in the early morning and late afternoon twilight.  (I like the twilight, that's when the Marsh Crone feeds her brood the "Marsh Crone's Brew"...look it up...I swear...see for yourself on Hoss Hill Road at about 745PM!)  There was also of course; swimming at the Epworth Forest Beach or off the boat or pier, speedboat ride with the wind in your hair, bike ride down the hill toward Eagle Point, trip for ice cream with the windows rolled down and "Hanky Panky" by Tommy James and The Shondells blastin' on the box, hangin' out in the basement.  Lake cottage rentals used to be sweltering especially at night with the oscillating fan that only cooled you as it passed by.

But now our Northern Indiana Cabin Rentals have something great!  Air Conditioning.  That's right, central air so you don't need to drive to Syracuse to the Pickwick Theatre and watch GI Joe or BandSlam just to get that artificial AC cool.  And you can sleep at night at our Vacation Home Indiana without putting your head down towards the foot of the bed
(I don't know why but before the AC may Dad did that 'cause he said it was cooler, right Dad.)

So go for it! Sweat it up all day and at night after your dip you can chill out the Dog Days in Fiiinnne AC.  Be cool.

Missing our Vacation Home Indiana Log Cabin

Thursday, August 6, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

The summer is passing by so quickly and we didn't even have a day over 90 degrees in July in North Webster, Indiana. These less humid temps has made it quite comfortable for our  Indiana Lake Cabins guest in Epworth Forest. We are excited because in nine days we are headed to our Indiana Lake Cabins Rental.  I can't wait to pack up the pets and head out to our Indiana Weekend Getaway.  We are very eager to cozy in our Cottage Rentals Indiana Home and relax in the ambiance of cabin lakefront living.  It's an easy drive to get there and takes about 2 1/2 hours  Our family dog Riviera always knows when we are only blocks from the cabin as she starts barking with excitement.  Once we are unpacked we breathe in and then out with total contentment in our Indiana Log Cabin.  When we arrive late morning we fix ourselves some refreshing sweat tea. plug in the inside water bucket fountain and gaze out our large picture window that opens up to a world of nature.  No doubt, the weeping willow trees will appear to have grown taller and the Dixie Paddle boat will be tooting it's horn as it slowly passes by. Quickly we will pack the cooler and picnic baskets to head out on the boat for some fun on Lake Webster.   After a summer full of Vacation Indiana Rental Guest... it's finally our turn to enjoy summer fun at it's best.

Take Your Pet On Your Next Lake Vacation

Tuesday, July 21, 2009 by Jess Wehner
We recently headed up to our log cabin Indiana home and took our 4 month old lab-mix puppy with us.  Of course, it is always a hassle to pack up the dog, entertain her on the drive, and then re-train her where to go potty once we arrive - but getting to watch her swim for the first time was well worth it!  And of course, it beat having to leave her with a sitter or at a kennel.  We probalby could have sat on the dock for hours and watched her jump after the tennis ball- it was a blast.

Take Your Pet To Lake Webster

Fortunately, the Take It Easy Cabin is an Indiana Pet Friendly Cabin, so your family pet is welcome to come on vacation with you as well.  And- one great thing about Lake Webster is the sand bars and beaches you can go to, so if your puppy is like mine and scared to jump in off the dock, they can take the easier approach and walk into the water from the shoreline.  You might even try this on your next trip to Lake Webster with your pet...

Independance Day at the Lake

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp
Well here we go...4th of July is this weekend at Lake Webster and guess what, it is everywhere else too!  I love it at my Vacation Home Indiana for the 4th.  Lotsa: fireworks- friends-family-food-fun-freaks-fudgebars and Fishing Lakes Indiana.  The fireworks on Webster this year will be shot off from Kline Island just off the beach at Epworth Forest.  If you're out on a boat on the lake you can see Fireworks from Tippy and Wawsasee (the Big Bam Boom!)  As children we had sparklers and snakes at the Indiana Log Cabin, as a teen we had M-80's, Black Cats and 76 kegs of beer in 1976, as a adults we just like to watch...it's all good.  Have fun!

Towing your boat.. bring a spare tire

Thursday, June 4, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Who would tow their boat out of their driveway heading for a Vacation Rentals Indiana cabin without an extra spare tire for their boat trailer?
Yep, you guessed it, we did! Wesley and I recently returned from an extended stay at our Vacation Home Indiana log cabin rent on Lake Webster in North Webster, IN.
The holiday Indiana Weekend Getaway was tons of fun yet our return trip was slowed to a halt about 45 minutes from our home.  Nearing the quaint town of Tipton, IN we heard the dreaded thump thump wobble wobble! There we were with a packed car/boat full of suitcases, coolers, our two restless pets wanting to go to the bathroom and us two who were very anxious to get home.
We pulled off  highway 13 to a nearby road and pulled into the side grassy area,  Now what? We thought about leaving our fully loaded boat alone for hours while we hunted down an open store which sells our trailer tire size risking our boat getting stolen (or at least what is inside of it)  Fortunately for us we lucked out, a good Samaritan Farmer who lived on the corner offered to help.  He gave us a local phone number of a company that works on farm equipment.  Within 15 minutes they were there with the right size tire.  It took about 25 minutes to change the tire and we were $150.00 poorer for the charge.  What would you be willing to spend to avoid this situation entirely?  The lesson we learned was spend the $50 on a spare tire,  keep it inflated to ensure that you will enjoy your entire trip. A spare tire is like insurance, you better have it but really hope you never use it!!

Memorial Day Patriotism Stays Strong In Lake Webster Area

Saturday, May 9, 2009 by Roxanne Turner
Wesley and I have noticed on Federal Holiday trips to our Indiana Log Cabin Rental in North Webster, IN  just how few American Flags we see flying from homes. This is true even in many small towns as we make our way to our Northern Indiana Weekend Getaway cottage.  I can recall being around 7 or 8 years old and mesmerized by the patriotism displayed especially in small towns and their downtown area.  My parents would buy me one of those cheap pin wheels in red, white and blue that I would stick out the car window.  Of course, this fun only lasted for a few miles as the wind would always end up tearing the pin wheel.  Back in those times there was little entertainment in long car rides.  Your radio antenna reception was poor and there was no a/c. The only option for entertainment and staying cool was looking our the car windows completely rolled down. I found my face half hanging out the window like a pet dog with my main focus on the scenery. In my childhood recollection it seemed like almost every house had a flag on their front porch.

I must say where our cabin is located in Epworth Forest the community has kept the tradition strong. On Memorial Weekend the North Webster American Legion parking lot is completely full to capacity with overflow  parking in nearby business establishments.  Flags are flying not only on personal homes, but on cottages and on the back of boats.
One of the first things we do on designated holidays is to display our American Flag on the side of our log cabin porch.    My father was a veteran of World War II and Wesley and I both love our country.  I know it is easy to get lost in holidays with the extra day off, family planning, cookouts and such yet I for one miss seeing the patriotism I recalled as a child
Arriving to our Indiana Cabin Rentals and their patriotic observance in the community takes me home again to past times.

Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing (Freebird)...

Saturday, May 9, 2009 by Wesley Duke Sapp

...because every little thing is gonna be alright.  Yes it's spring.  3 little birds wake me up every morning.

When I'm at the lake for an Indiana Weekend Getaway I like to get up and get a cup of coffee and go sit on the patio and watch the hummingbirds.  There's also a large population of swans on Lake Webster, 40+ at last count (my personal fave is # 23.)  The Log Cabin Indiana is across the Epworth Forest Bay from a bird sanctuary so we see those big 'ol Herons standing like statues a lot.  It's rare but I've seen 'em snatch up a fish and gobble it down on our pier.  Their call is "prehistoric."

Bob-Whites are all around, they say "bob-white, bob-white."  I whistle back at 'em.  Our Kitty, Casanova, likes 'em too.  She'd like to eat them if she could but she'll have to be content to watch out the window and screen door at our Indiana Pet Friendly Cabin.

Woodpeckers, Canadian Geese, Ducks, Coot, Martins, Red-Winged Black Birds, they're all there and more at Vacation Rentals Indiana.  I like 'em and hope you do too.  Just don't stand directly below them or their nests or you know what could happen.  See you at the lake.

Listening recommendations; "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  See you at the lake!

Duke

Memorial Day begins the summer at Lake Webster

Friday, May 8, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

The kick off of summer for our family and for many others is Memorial Day Weekend.  Summer sun, fun and more outdoor activities is just about to begin and the anticipation is growing around our house and others for sure.

I can hardly wait for our Memorial Weekend at our Indiana Northern Log Cabin Rental located in Epworth Forest in North Webster, IN.   This is one of the busiest weekends of the year as cabin owners and renters come back to their favorite Vacation Home Indiana cottage to enjoy their vacation getaway holiday on Lake Webster.  On the Friday before Memorial Day our Indiana Log Cabin area is a buzz with activity. There is a constant stream of cars packed with families, pets, fishing poles, suitcases and coolers of food. You can hear the distant sound of rattling boat trailers as the cars pulling boats drive around the street bend approaching their holiday Indiana Weekend Getaway cabin.  There is usually a parade of cars driving through North Webster, IN pulling some stunning boats and very entertaining to watch as you glimpse at some of their unique and cute names stamped strategically on their sterns.

Arriving to our cabin is so exciting over this particular holiday as there is magic in the air.  If the weather is nice there is already wave runners out that we can see from our Lakefront Cabin Rentals window along with fishing enthusiast  It's not unusual to smell a few cookouts filtering through the air and hear faint background party music as the holiday weekend is gearing up.   There is always friends waving to friends and lot's of catching up to do with our cabin neighbors.  Once the car is unpacked and we are settled in Wes and I hurry out to the back deck that looks out to Lake Webster. We kick back with a few adult beverages and all is right with our piece of the world.  Ahhh... Cabin Life!
By Saturday Morning we always  awake to the hum of a variety of boat engines including some"show boat"boaters that like to let you know how loud and fast their boat can skip across the waves.  Throttle down.. maximum speed.. and usually either bright yellow or red in color.  That's okay as by noon we also will be out on our boat...maybe not as fast but enjoying the ride!

Looking For A Pet Friendly Getaway?

Puppy Ruthie - Soon to Visit Lake WebsterMy husband and I recently got a puppy from the New Castle Animal Shelter.  She is a lab/collie mix (or so we think!) and we named her Ruthie.  We have had so much fun playing with her over the past couple days!  While she may be a lot of work, she brings a lot of joy to our family too.

We've always had a pet growing up, but I don't think I fully realized the importance of finding Indiana Pet Friendly Cabins for your vacation until I had a puppy of my own!  Having a dog or cat is not just having a pet, it's having another member of your family.  If your family always travels with your pet, check out our Lake Cabin Indiana Home when looking at vacation spots.  Not only will your whole family fit, but there's pleanty of room for Fido or Spot to join the fun as well.

Pet Friendly Rental Cabin In Northern Indiana

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 by Roxanne Turner

Are you looking for a pet friendly vacation in Northern Indiana? Then, look no more! Take It Easy log cabin  has all the comforts of home and more, even allowing you to bring along the family pet. This  2 story cabin has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and sleeps 6 comfortable.   Plenty of trails to walk your pets and lots of outside nature to keep everyone entertained. Wesley and I always bring our Maltese dog (Rivera) and cat (Cassie) to our rental getaway retreat that views Lake Webster in North Webster, IN.

We want to make sure you and your beloved pets arrive safely and have a wonderful time at the our lakefront cottage so here are a few pet travel safety tips to consider:

  1. Car trips can be hazardous to your pet. How many times have you seen a small dog sitting on the drivers lap, looking out the window? Or the cat lying on the rear shelf on the car? A sudden stop, or even an accident can send your pet flying.

  2. A loose pet in a car can also escape if someone opens the door, forgetting that your pet is able to jump out before you can grab him or her. They make special harnesses for dogs like seat belts, and the cat-carrier can always be used to transport your cat safely. Of course, make sure the carrier is also secured to the back seat with a seat belt.

 3. Many dogs and cats do not travel well in a car. Consider speaking with your vet about tranquilizers. If your pet gets car sick, consider travel-sickness pills. Again, check with your vet for recommendations and dosage.

4.There have been too many incidents of cats and dogs suffering from heatstroke after being left in a hot car. Leave at least two windows (for cross draft) open slightly to provide fresh air. You might consider one of those solar powered fans that fit in the window. The fan fits snugly in the window, the sun powers the fan, and air is circulate within your vehicle. However, we strongly recommend that you DON'T leave animals in the car in hot climates or during the warmer months, as even a short time in a hot vehicle can be injurious to your pet.

  5. Check for Emergency Veterinary Clinics in the area prior to arriving

Feedback on Our Indiana Log Cabin

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 by Jess Wehner
When I went up to our Vacation Home last, I typed up a couple notes people had left in the guest book at our Epworth Forest cabin.  Hearing from people who have stayed at the cabin is the best way for you to get an idea of what our cabin is like.  Here is what one couple had to say about their stay:

“Thank you for sharing your charming log cabin.  We live in a log and stone home in Bloomington, IN so this was a bit of home away from home and we loved it!  The setting is beautiful- like a picture post card.  The weather couldn’t have been nicer and we enjoyed eating our meals outside where we could also see the scenery.   Our dog, Higgins loved it here too!  Thank you for allowing pets to come along.  We took lots of long walks with Higgins who never missed an opportunity to take one or more dips in the lake."  -Betsy and Jim Watson,  August 9-16, 2008

If you are looking for a relaxing Indiana weekend getaway in a beautiful setting, the Take It Easy Cabin is the place to be!  Book your stay to enjoy our Indiana log cabin like the Watson’s did (and please leave a comment in the guest book...)
